Four Mids Tabbed All-Patriot League; Beth Reed Named Goalkeeper of the Year

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - For the third time in four years, a member of the Navy women's soccer team earned Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year honors as senior team captain Beth Reed (Indianapolis, Ind.) was named the 2009 recipient of the award, the league office announced Tuesday morning....

Only the fourth goalkeeper in program history to be elected team captain, Reed joins her former mentor, Lizzie Barnes ('09) and Kate MacFarlane ('03) as the only Navy netminders to have earned Player of the Year laurels.

She has put together an outstanding senior campaign with 91 saves, a conference-best 0.67 goals-against average and a .875 save percentage - the 13th-best mark nationally. Additionally, Reed has established a new Navy senior class record, and is tied for the Patriot League lead, with nine solo shutouts. ...
