Kessing moves up to No. 1 singles for Chatard

Bishop Chatard finished 17th in the final girls tennis poll of 2007 but graduated four key players -- most notably the two-time all-state doubles team of Kristen Metzger and Courtney O'Brien. "It's really dawned on us how hard those four holes are going to be to fill -- especially Courtney and Kristen, who were so strong for us," Chatard coach Dan McNally said. "We'll try some things to see how they work." McNally said he expects junior Lauren Kessing to move up to No. 1 singles. "She was the City champ at No. 3 singles last year, but obviously there's a big difference between No. 3 and No. 1 singles -- especially in this area," McNally said. "But I think she did a great job in the offseason getting ready for this year, and it's always nice if you play No. 1 singles as a senior with a year at the position already behind you."
