Bishop Chatard coach to stress improvement, not victories
The Bishop Chatard High School football team won the Class 3A state championship last year, but the Trojans will have several new starters this season, and that could translate to a slow start. Veteran coach Vince Lorenzano isn't concerned with how his team starts the season, though. Chatard had a 1-4 record last year (including a forfeit due to a paperwork error) before reeling off 10 straight wins. Lorenzano expects the Trojans to endure some growing pains, but he believes his squad has the tools to contend for its eighth championship in the past 14 years. "I think it's one of those teams you've just got to be patient with," Lorenzano said. "We won't concern ourselves with victories and losses as much as getting better."
