Bishop Chatard

Every season is a challenge for coach Jim Doninger. Bishop Chatard doesn't have a pool, which forces the Trojans to practice off campus.
This year, they practice at the Natatorium at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, unlike the past several years when the swimmers practiced at the Indiana School for the Deaf and the divers went to the Indiana School for the Blind.
"We don't have a pool and so I'm always building a new team, basically," he said. "I'm dealing with kids that don't swim year around for the most part. I'm kind of at a different level than some of the bigger schools."
Many of his kids swim only a couple of years before they stop.
This season, Chatard has just eight boys and they are all freshmen or sophomores. The girls team shrank to 14 from 30 a year ago.
