Bishop Chatard The Bishop Chatard High School girls basketball team better remember to bring its royal blue road uniforms for tonight's sectional semifinal game against Whiteland, or fans may not be able to tell the teams apart. Both are 17-3. Bishop Chatard is No. 4 in The Associated Press Class 3A poll; Whiteland, No. 8. Both run guard-dominated, up-tempo systems and are among the top 25 offenses in Indiana. Both have royal blue and white as team colors. "We're very similar," said Bishop Chatard coach Kevin Sweeney. "Two ranked teams . . . Same records . . . As far as our styles, we're very similar. Both teams like to shoot a lot of outside shots. Both like to push the ball and score in the mid- to high-60s. We're close in size and strength. "It'll be a fun game to watch." The two teams will play at 7:30 tonight at Beech Grove. Neither program had won a title before the Trojans ended Whiteland's season in last year's championship game with a 72-64 victory. The winner will be the favorite over Roncalli (10-11) or Beech Grove (5-15) in Saturday's final. Other differences are minor. Jessica Huffman averages 19.5 points per game for Whiteland. Bishop Chatard's offense is more balanced, with five players averaging 8.7 to 13.8 points per game. As the coaches talk about their programs, the words are almost interchangeable. "When I came in I set expectations for the level of effort and the ability to work together," said Sweeney. Whiteland coach Bill Hogue: "It starts with having good kids who commit to what you're asking them to do during the season and offseason."
