In Class 4A, the beat goes on.

One or both of the Catholic schools have been a clear state championship contender in Class 4A nearly every year the past decade. The two have combined for seven state championship-game appearances and six 4A titles during that time. They again appear to be among the favorites to finish the season at the RCA Dome.

In Class 3A, Bishop Chatard looks to be a hands-down favorite to play in the state-title game for the sixth time in a 10-year span.

..Chatard returns one of the state's premier runners in senior Joe Holland (2,257 yards rushing, 30 touchdowns).

The Trojans return eight starters on both sides from last year's team that fell 7-0 to NorthWood in the 3A title game.

Guerin, in 2A, is playing a varsity schedule for the first time.

In Class A, Lutheran begins its first full varsity season and has a strong running back prospect in Cory Emmons and a capable quarterback in Jared Broughton.
