New Alumni Career Program seeks your help
Share your career with current students
Do you remember how confusing thinking about a career can be? Are you looking for a way to give back to BCHS? Can you give up an hour of your day to talk about your profession with students eager to learn about your career and the journey that brought you there? If so, please consider our new Alumni Career Program!
Our goal is three-fold:
-
To introduce students to the real world of work via informal conversation with alumni who are engaged in a variety of interesting and challenging professions.
-
To challenge students to make the connection between the opportunities they have to develop skills at Bishop Chatard and the importance of building on these skills to achieve success and fulfillment.
-
To welcome our alumni back to Bishop Chatard. Your presence shows our students that they, too, will soon be out in the community contributing their gifts and talents!
What do I need to do?
Arrive by 10:45am at the BCHS Main Office. The presentations take place on Wed mornings, from approximately 11:00 to 11:30 in the St. Thomas Aquinas College and Career Center (adjacent to the BCHS cafeteria).
The format of the presentation is very informal and well-suited to questions and discussion.
Interested students are given a pass to attend. You might expect 10 students but there have been groups of anywhere from 5 to 20 students.
In addition to learning about your job, students like to know:
Where did you continue your education after Bishop Chatard and why did you choose that particular college or university?
How did you decide to pursue your career?
What or who influenced your career decisions?
What is the best thing about your job?
What is the most challenging thing about your job?
What was the best advice that you received?
Will you join us? Our students are eager to hear about the "real world" challenges and rewards of your job!
