The varsity volleyball team traveled to the prestigious Yorktown Invitational on Saturday, in which all 8 participants are Top 10 ranked in the state, and emerged with a 1-3 record. After a shaky start, the Lady Trojans, ranked #9 in the last 3A poll, upended Ft. Wayne Concordia, ranked #5 in a hard-fought and well-played match.

The varsity volleyball teamed rebounded nicely from a shaky evening at Perry Meridian to take out LN in straight sets in front of an enthusiastic home crowd. Senior setter Annie Bates continued to show superb work ethic for her teammates, senior Heather O'Brien and sophomore Mary Kilbane were great in the back row, and Lauren Taylor and Marissa Collier teamed up on serve and swing to put the match away. Many thanks to the fans!

This match was a particularly intense and well-played win that featured great play on offense from Marissa Collier and Annalise Lowry and freshman middle Anna Logan.

The varsity Trojans traveled to Western Boone and went 2-1 behind the strong back court play of Mary Kilbane and Lauren Taylor, and the surgical serving of Helen Flynn. The Trojans lost a hard-fought championship match to the hosts, but served well and showed excellent defensive intensity.

The varsity volleyball team had a tough stretch, as they took on 4A powers New Castle and Carmel. In spite of being able to shut down the middle of the net defensively, with Annalise Lowry and Ellen Schroeder smothering any attempted 31 set, and a great serving run by Lauren Taylor at Carmel, the Lady Trojans were unable to side out quickly enough to pull out a set. The help from the super-fans was much appreciated, though.

The Lady Trojans played in the championship match of their own tournament: after defeating Park Tudor in three, defending champion and highly ranked 3A opponent Brownstown Central battled the Trojans. In spite of great defense from wingbacks Mary Kilbane and Robyn Van Vliet, the Trojans dropped to Brownstown in 4.

The varsity volleyball team concluded the regular season by going the distance against the North Central Panthers and the Center Grove Trojans. The BC Trojans traveled to Center Grove for a spirited match, coming from behind 6-11 in the 5th to win. Excellent efforts were turned in by numerous Trojans, but the right side play of Lexi Siegler and Claire Schapker helped shut down an excellent Center Grove outside, while Annalise Lowry always seemed to come up with the crucial block, and other middle Anna Logan forced Center Grove to put their best player on her. Excellent efforts were also registered in the back court by Heather O'Brien and Mary Kilbane on defense and the pinpoint passing down the stretch of Lauren Taylor.
