The Bishop Chatard Athletic Wall of Fame has many pictures and many stories to tell ....
With
the graduating class of 1999, we had our first second generation
Wall-of-Famer.
John Jackson, a 1999 Bishop Chatard graduate and
a 1998 All-City and Metro Super Team football player joined his
father, also John, in the Wall of Fame. Older John was a 1974
graduate
and earned All-City status in both football and baseball.
Not to
be outdone, 2000 graduate Kristyn Tekulve, a three-time All-City
softball player and two-time member of a city champion swimming
relay team, joined her father Keith in the Wall of Fame. Keith,
a 1978 BCHS graduate, was an All-City football player for the
Trojans. Now, with the Class of 2005, brother Brian Tekulve joins the family, being selected as a member of the Baseball 1st Team All-City for 2005.
In both cases, the pictures of the more recent graduates were framed
together with those of their fathers' to hang in the Wall of Fame
together. There is a brass plate on each of the two frames which
reads,
"Trojan Excellence - A Family Tradition."
