BCHS Academic Support Services
Bishop Chatard High School is directed and dedicated to the success of each student. As part of its mission to the Catholics and non-Catholics of the North Deanery of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, Bishop Chatard High School offers academic support services that address a range of student needs. These services are planned and directed by a full-time academic support coordinator.
Bishop Chatard's academic support services include:

Preparation of a Student Profile:
The preparation of a student profile based on a current Psycho-Educational Evaluation that offers classroom accommodations.

Academic Resource Room
available for extended time testing, test readers, test scribes, copied class notes, and recorded books for English novels

Supported class
for students with learning disabilities

Extended Time
for standardized testing
Classroom accommodations afforded to students with a student profile may include:

A note taker
(as a supplement to the student's own notes);

Test-taking in the Academic Resource Center;

Extra time
for a lengthy class reading, writing, or long overnight assignment;

Breakdown of lengthy assignments
into smaller segments with specific directions for each part;

Oral directions along with written directions
on the board or overhead projector;

No penalty for spelling mistakes
unless the assignment is typed or computer-based;
-
Special seating;
-
Extended time (50% more) for testing
and/or the opportunity to have tests read aloud;

Permission to use a calculator
