The Guidance Department at Bishop Chatard High School offers academic support, personal support, high school, college and career guidance to the high school student through class counselors and support personnel. We are always available to answer any questions you may have.
College Goal Sunday: Feb. 12
On Sun, Feb. 12, students and parents can get free assistance in completing their college financial aid application forms (FAFSA) at 8 sites throughout the city (40 throughout the state)! Now in its 23rd year, on College Goal Sunday, financial aid professionals will be available to help families complete their FAFSA, due March 10, 2012. The event starts at 2 p.m..

Career Exploration Seminars: Feb. 18
BCHS will be hosting two career seminars presented by Sarah Lowery Henning, PhD, licensed counseling psychologist on Sat, Feb. 18. The session for girls will be held from 10:30am-noon; for boys from 1:00-2:30pm. The seminars include the initial session with students only, career assessments and an additional one hour individual session with parents at a later date. This is open to all BCHS students. SAT and ACT Prep Seminars by ZAPS: Feb. 4, Mar. 3
All sophomore and junior families will receive information on the SAT and ACT preparation seminars, presented by ZAPS Learning Company. The review seminars are scheduled as follows:

Course Registration for Current Students
Course selection sheets should be turned in. After Jan. 13, counselors will meet individually with all students to finalize their course selections. These meetings will take a couple of months to complete.

A registration deposit of $350/student ($500 for more than 1 student) is due by March 1, 2012. This deposit will be applied to your tuition.

Guidance Newsletters are now online
The Guidance Department Class Newsletters are now available online. These periodic newsletters, sent to the parent's email, contain upcoming important dates and other information for your student's class. The links to the newsletters are on the right for each class. They are also available in the 'Parents' area.
NCAA Eligibility Process
Any student who plans to play sports in college should visit the NCAA Eligibility Center to sign up and begin the required academic verification process. Visit www.eligibilitycenter.org to get started. It is recommended that this process be initiated by the summer prior to senior year.
