Graduation Requirements
We realize that it is a heart-wrenching experience for a senior not to be able to participate in graduation, but these policies were developed in justice to those many seniors who have worked long and hard to be a part of graduation. Bishop Chatard reserves the right to establish policies concerning a student's participation.
In order to receive a diploma from Bishop Chatard High School, a student must fulfill all of the
following requirements. The student:
-
Must successfully complete all of the required courses, including religion (Further Details)
-
Must complete the senior service requirements
-
Must meet the minimum standards on the End of Course Assessments in Algebra I and English 10 or qualify for a waiver.
Clarifications:
-
Any student who does not pass all required courses or fails to complete the service requirement will not be permitted to participate in graduation ceremonies. As soon as the school receives official notification that the work has been successfully completed, the school will send a diploma.
-
Any student who successfully completes the required courses and service but has not passed the End of Course Assessments will be permitted to participate in graduation ceremonies and will receive a certificate of attendance instead of a diploma. Once the school receives official notification that the student has passed the End of Course Assessments or received a waver, the school will send a diploma.
-
If a student completes all of the necessary requirements, but is involved in any major violation of the school rules, he or she may not be permitted to participate in the commencement ceremony. Any such decision will be made by the principal after recommendation from the discipline board. The student is entitled to a diploma if he or she has completed the requirements. The student does not have the right to participate in commencement.
-
Unless excused by the president, any senior who does not attend the graduation practice may not participate in graduation ceremonies. He or she may attend the Baccalaureate Liturgy with the approval of the principal.
-
Any student who is not receiving a diploma or not participating in the commencement ceremony may attend the mass and commencement as a guest only with the permission of the principal.
All tuition and fees must be paid to receive a diploma and final grades.
