BCHS Celebrates Catholic Schools Week: Jan. 30 - Feb. 5

BCHS is celebrating Catholic Schools with prayer, education and fun! The week's schedule is:

  • Tues, Jan. 24: The Catholic Schools Week Mass begins at 10am, followed by a reception for representatives from each North Deanery parish and their BCHS students. Thank you, North Deanery Schools, for all you do to make Catholic education great!
  • Daily, Jan. 30-Feb. 4
    • Morning Prayer: A member of the faculty/staff will offer a brief reflection/prayer each morning
    • Mystery Catholic Education Example: iTunes gift card will be awarded
    • Minute to Win It: Class competition each day during lunch periods
  • Dress-Up Days:
    • Monday: Grade School T-Shirt/CYO Gear
    • Tuesday: Pajama Day
    • Wednesday: Jersey Day
    • Thursday: Indiana Day (anything that is associated with the state if Indiana)
    • Friday: Spirit Gear
  • Fri, Feb. 3 : Senior vs Faculty Basketball Game; Class 'Minute To Win It' halftime competition. Winning class receives an ice cream party.

Boys Volleyball Team Tryouts begin Feb. 6

Career Exploration Seminars: Feb. 18

BCHS will be hosting two career seminars presented by Sarah Lowery Henning, PhD, licensed counseling psychologist on Sat, Feb. 18. The session for girls will be held from 10:30am-noon; for boys from 1:00-2:30pm. The seminars include the initial session with students only, career assessments and an additional one hour individual session with parents at a later date. This is open to all BCHS students. Cost is $170. Information Sheet about the seminar. To register, contact Mr. Mooney.

Spring Play Auditions begin Feb. 2

The audition schedule for the spring play, 'Anything Goes', has been announced, beginning with learning the audition dance on Feb. 2. See the Drama Booster Club page for all audition dates. All interested students are welcome to tryout'!

Comedy Sportz begins their season

The Comedy Sportz team match schedule is now available at the Drama Booster Club page. Come cheer the team on, as well as enjoy an evening of laughs and fun! Their first match is on Fri, Feb. 3 at Cathedral H.S. at 7pm.

Students Email Accounts are here!

Google email (gmail) accounts have been set up for all students at BCHS, to allow students and faculty/administration the ability to communicate via email for school-related matters. At this time, students can only send email to and only receive it from other bishopchatard.org email addresses. Need help setting it up? Contact Todd Finnell, IT Director.

SAT/ACT Prep Classes

Bishop Chatard teachers Katie Schaffner and Jennifer Rea will be conducting a series of Wednesday evening SAT Preparation classes beginning Jan. 25. Registration is currently being accepted. See Guidance for details. BCHS will also be hosting one-day SAT and ACT seminars on Feb. 4 and March 3.

National Honor Society offers tutoring

The National Honor Society offers free tutoring before and after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Tutoring is on a drop-in basis, and will be in Room 305. See your guidance counselor if you have any questions.

LIBRARY TUTORS ONLINE

Live homework help from professors and tutors is available online through the Marion County Public Library. For more information go to imcpl.org/kids/tutorauth.php

The service is available 2 to 10 p.m. daily for students in grades 4 through 12 studying math, science, English or social studies. There is no charge to you - it is provided through a library grant. Give it a try, see if it doesn't take some of the stress out of homework.
