7-8 Grade Jam with our Band: March 2

Do you play a wind, string or percussion instrument, whether in your school band or other ensemble? Are you a prospective 7th or 8th grader, even curious or undecided, from the North Deanery schools?

Bishop Chatard invites YOU to our BAND JAM on Saturday morning, March 2, 2024, from 10 a.m. until noon in the BCHS Music Room 115. This is an excellent opportunity for any musician thinking about making BCHS their high school destination. Students will get a chance to meet members of our band, and experience the scope and perspective of our instrumental music program first-hand.

  • 10:00 a.m. Introductions and ice-breaker
  • 10:10 a.m.: Settle into your instrument section in the band
  • 10:15 a.m.: GO-TIME! Let’s make some music!
  • 11:00 a.m.: Break with a snack
  • 11:10 a.am.: GO-TIME part 2!
  • 11:50 a.m.: Wrap-up, closing remarks, Q&A
  • Noon: BAND JAM! concludes

All participants are expected to bring their instrument with all necessary supplies for playing that day. Percussionists can bring their own, favorite mallets and sticks, or mallets and sticks will be provided.

If you are interested in participating or have questions, email Music Director Mark Duray at mduray@bishopchatard.org. Please include the student’s name, current school, instrument and parent’s email address. (Or call Mr. Duray at 317-251-1451 and leave a message with the same info.)

Don’t miss this great way to meet some new friends, especially before that first day of school in August, learn the importance of being a BCHS musician in the BCHS Music family, and make a little music while we’re at it! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
