Due to the current unprecedented health crisis, Bishop Chatard Director of Campus Ministry, Steven Patzke, service coordinators Jeff and Jackie Bach, and Deacon Rick have been in discussions regarding the service program for the 2019-2020 school year.
The decision has been made to waive the service hour requirement for the 2019-2020 school year. All students will receive a ‘C’ (C = complete) on their final grade report.
Many agencies the students would normally serve are not accessible at this time and may not be accessible for the foreseeable future. In addition, it is important to comply with the concept of social distancing, not wanting to put students in potentially unsafe situations.
What should students do?
- If they have not yet done so, students should submit all service hours already completed via the MobileServe app. Why? We want our students to be eligible for year-end awards. We honor students that reach certain levels of service – St. Teresa of Calcutta Distinction for (75) hours over the course of the school year and the St. Lawrence Honor Cord for seniors that have completed (200+) hours of service over the course of their high school career.
- These hours should be submitted for all grade levels on or before May 1. The MobileServe app will be closed down for the 2019-2020 school year at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2020.
- Note to freshmen: All freshmen have already met their required service hours. However, if freshmen have completed any hours of service beyond that requirement, please be sure to submit them prior to May 1st.
