BCHS is recognized as 2023 National Blue Ribbon School

United States Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona announced that Bishop Chatard High School has been named a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School. Bishop Chatard is one of 11 schools in the state of Indiana, and one of only 2 in Indianapolis, to receive this national honor based on academic performance.

The prestigious National Blue Ribbon Award is given in one of two categories: Exemplary High-Performing Schools and Exemplary Achievement Gap-Closing schools. BCHS was named an Exemplary High-Performing School based on results of state assessments and/or nationally normed test results and graduation rates.

Bishop Chatard Director of Instruction Ann Taylor, Principal John Hasty, Director of Academics Julia Hasbrook and Archdiocese of Indianapolis Superintendent of Catholic Schools Dr. Brian Disney accepted Bishop Chatard’s 2023 National Blue Ribbon School Award November 17 in Washington, D.C.
“The honorees for our 2023 National Blue-Ribbon Schools Award have set a national example for what it means to Raise the Bar in education,” Secretary Cardona said. 2023 is the 40th year that the U.S. Dept. of Education has bestowed this award on schools that it views as ‘models of effective and innovative school practices for state and district educators and other schools throughout the nation.’

“This designation speaks volumes about the quality of the Bishop Chatard whole person formation experience, as well as the professionalism and above and beyond dedication of our faculty and administration,” BCHS President Bill Sahm said. “May God bless all who participate in the transformative experience we call a Bishop Chatard education.”
