Speech Teacher

Bishop Chatard High School is seeking a P155 (Public Oral Speaking) teacher for the 2021-2022 school-year. Previous certification in P155 preferred. This position is a part-time position and for immediate hire.
This class prepares students to communicate effectively with public audiences. It emphasizes oral communication as practiced in public contexts: how to advance reasoned claims in public; how to adapt public oral presentations to particular audiences; how to listen to, interpret, and evaluate public discourse; and how to formulate a clear response.

Speech/Media/Photography/Yearbook Teacher

Bishop Chatard High School is seeking a Speech/Media/Photography/Yearbook teacher for the 2021-2022 school-year. This position is for immediate hire.

Applicants should be ready to embrace the mission of Bishop Chatard High School and diligently work in support of the academic and spiritual development of all students. Applicants should be committed to being a highly effective teacher in a college-preparatory one-to-one technology rich environment.
Teaching responsibilities include:

  1. P155 (Public Oral Speaking)-This class prepares students to communicate effectively with public audiences. It emphasizes oral communication as practiced in public contexts: how to advance reasoned claims in public; how to adapt public oral presentations to particular audiences; how to listen to, interpret, and evaluate public discourse; and how to formulate a clear response.
  2. Yearbook Teacher helps students develop a distinctive yearbook format. Provides guidance with layout, picture/artwork selection, writing styles, etc. Helps students with proofreading and editing functions. Ensures that yearbook content is accurate and appropriate.
  3. Photography Teacher shows students at nearly every academic level how to shoot pictures, develop film, make prints, edit digital images, and evaluate finished photos. Students will learn the basics of shooting and printing black-and-white photography.
  4. Magazine/Media: Helps students research, write and edit stories, features and articles for use in our online magazine (Blueprint) and hard-copy magazine (Trojan Matters).

Part-Time Cafeteria Help

Bishop Chatard has immediate employment opportunities for parents or others in the community who are looking for part-time, school hour employment to work in the BCHS cafeteria. Number of hours is flexible, with the potential to reach 30+ hours. Work would include light prep duties, cashiering, serving on the lunch line, etc.

Cafeteria Cook – 2 positions

BCHS has 2 openings for this position. This is a full time-up to 40 hours a week. Duties include:
Goal: To provide nutritious, well prepared food for the School Lunch Program.
Qualifications

  • Prior Cooking experience preferred
  • Ability to adhere to safe food handling & preparation skills
  • Must be able to able to lift up to 40lbs
  • Must be able to withstand temperatures of hot and cold
  • Must be able to to work on one’s feet for long periods

Responsibilities/Job Duties:

  • Prepare Food In a Safe & Sanitary Manner
  • Maintain a Positive Interaction with Students and Staff
  • Follow Standardized recipes
  • Clean work area and cleaning duties as assigned
  • Log & Record Food Amounts Prepared and Leftover
  • Follow Health and Sanitation Guidelines
  • Maintain Stock and Put Away Truck Delivery
  • Clean and Sanitize Dishes
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Dishwasher/Prep Cook

Hours for this position are 9:30 AM-2:30 PM Monday-Friday. Duties include:

  • Prepping & cooking food including frying, baking, & assembling
  • Responsible for washing & sanitizing trays, pots, pans, and utensils
  • Cleaning/sanitizing equipment, Cafeteria tables, sweeping, and mopping
  • Stock refrigerator, freezer, and pantry items

The successful applicant must be able to stand for a prolonged period of time, be and able to lift up to 30 pounds and have the ability to withstand hot & cold temperature extremes.
