SILAS Period: Support Instruction, Learning And Students
SILAS Period takes place on the first period of the day (7:45–8:30 am) on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month. While participation is optional, students are strongly encouraged to use this time. This optional time allows students to:

• Get 1:1 or small group support from teachers
• Work on credit recovery or for-credit courses
• Meet other academic diploma requirements

In some cases, attendance may be required for additional support.

• The student is receiving credit for a course offered during SILAS Period
• Teacher recommendation due to grades, missing assignments, etc.
• Academic Probation: Students on Academic Probation (below a 2.0) at the end of a quarter will be required to attend the SILAS period three times a week (M, Tu, Th). Students will remain in SILAS until
  they are above a 2.0 at the next grade checkpoint. (Grade checkpoints are midterm and end of quarter.) Students may also enter a SILAS requirement at midterm if deemed necessary by administration.

Throughout the semester, additional flex periods offer students opportunities to engage in student life, campus ministry, leadership activities and other mission-focused activities.

• Bishop Chatard is open to students by 6:45 am each day.
• Breakfast is served in the cafeteria 30 minutes before the first bell
• Students not attending a SILAS period session, or seeking help from a teacher, will be expected to go to the cafeteria/student life center.
• Students are not allowed in the hallways or gymnasiums, M-Th after 3:30 pm and on Friday after 2:30 pm.
