2 Trojans honored in 2023 Serra Club competition

Congratulations to Bishop Chatard students senior Van Hibbeln and junior Josh Puno, winners of the Serra Club of Indianapolis 2023 John D. Kelley Vocations Essay competition in the 12th grade and 11th grade categories respectively.

Van’s essay, titled “The Eucharist, Our Cornerstone”, and Josh’s essay, titled “In the Life of
Thomas Aquinas”, will be published in an upcoming issue of The Criterion. Both students will be honored and receive a cash prize at a Serra Club luncheon.

This year, the Serra Club asked students to write about how a saint’s devotion to the Eucharist enabled him or her to fulfill their vocation, and how that love of the Eucharist inspires people today. The John D. Kelley Vocations Essay contest is open to any Catholic student in grades 7 through 12 in parochial, public or homeschool systems in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.
