BCHS & the Thrive Indy Initiative

Students at the recognition of the Thriving Indy Initiative

Bishop Chatard accepted the ‘Thriving Schools Challenge’ and was recently nominated to be part of the Indianapolis Thriving School Initiative. Through the honor, BCHS will receive funding from the city to begin a composting service for the campus in 2019/20, as part of the Thrive Indy Initiative.

All food waste from the cafeteria kitchen will be processed by a company called Green with Indy. Brenda Henry, cafeteria manager, along with Catherine Welch, BCHS school counselor and Green Team moderator, submitted the grant. Students from the Gardening Club, moderated by Mark Jones, were also interested in composting.
