Driver’s Ed: Summer 2023

Bishop Chatard will be offering Driver Education this summer. The 2023 Summer Driver’s Education Course at Bishop Chatard is a state-certified course open to all BCHS students who are at least 15 years of age by May 27, 2023. The cost is $450, which includes both the classroom session and the in-car driving sessions.

This course is open only to current or incoming BCHS students.

Classroom Sessions: Students must complete either Session 1 or Session 2 of the in-person instruction portion of the course. Session 1 is from Saturday, May 27 (8-10 a.m. on that day only) through Friday, June 9, 2023. (Class will not meet on Memorial Day). Session 2 is from Monday, June 12 to Thursday, June 22. Session 2 will also have a required class meeting on Saturday, May 27 from 10 – noon. Normal classroom sessions will run from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Required Pre-Class Meeting: May 27
All students taking Driver Ed are required to attend an important class meeting on Saturday May, 27, 2023. Session 1 will meet from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and Session 2 will meet from 10:00 a.m. to noon. This meeting will count as Day 1 of the required 10-day classroom sessions.

In-Car Sessions: These sessions will be scheduled by the student and instructor on the first day of class (May 27). In-car sessions are one week long (Mon-Sat) and are available through the months of June and July.

Paperwork: Each student will receive the required forms that allow them to get their driver’s education permit from the license branch three weeks prior to the beginning of their classroom session.
