Girls Swim/Dive is 4th in Sectional; Katie Countryman advances to state

Congratulations to the Girls Swimming team, as they placed 4th in their sectional. Highlights of the sectional were:

Katie Countryman advances to state: Katie broke the team record and secured her place at the state meet as the sectional champion in the 100 fly. This marks a historic moment for our team, as it is the first time in 19 years that a girl from our program has made it to the state meet. Katie’s determination and skill have set a new standard for our team, and we couldn’t be prouder.


The girls’ 200 Free relay team, (Mary Claire McCarthy Young, Gabby Herner, Hanna Ross, Katie Countryman) delivered an electrifying performance, breaking the school record with an impressive time of 1:42.67. This achievement showcases the incredible teamwork and coordination among these talented swimmers.

Other standout performances were: Elaine Dilts continued to impress by dropping her 500 time to an impressive 6:17.36. Marguerite Bourgeois achieved a personal best in the 100 Breaststroke, touching the wall at 1:14.99. Hanna Ross demonstrated her speed in the 100 back, finishing with a swift time of 1:03.75.

In the 400 Free Relay, the team comprised of Helen Cline, Meg Jennings, Sophia Reed, and Morgan Engleman played a crucial role in securing the team’s 4th place in a highly competitive sectional meet. Their collective efforts and determination earned valuable points for our team.

Special recognition goes to our talented diver, Theresa Surinak, who scored an impressive 235.70. Her skill and commitment to excellence continue to make a significant impact on our team.
