Stock Gifts - Bishop Chatard High School

Thank you for your support of Bishop Chatard High School through the donation of stock or mutual funds to the school.

This type of gift is processed through the Archdiocese of Indianapolis brokerage account, which helps streamline transactions, reduce processing costs, and ensure IRS-approved acknowledgments.

To process your contribution in a timely manner, follow the steps below for publicly traded securities such as stock, mutual funds, and cash through your brokerage account.

Step 1: Initiate the Transfer with your Broker

Contact your financial institution for their required forms and procedures. Provide them the delivery instructions below. Please ask them to include the donor’s name on all deliveries.

Important Notes

Some financial institutions require the use of their own form or an additional letter of instruction.
If transferring mutual funds, confirm they are transferable.
If they are not transferable, contact Caryn Wilkinson at Morgan Stanley, at 317-818-7388 for further assistance.

Step 2: NOTIFY the Archdiocese of Indianapolis & Bishop Chatard of your Transfer

If the Archdiocese does not receive notification of a gift, it will be placed into a general fund at the Archdiocese of Indianapolis until identified.

There are two ways to notify the Archdiocese of your donation: an online form or a paper form.

This information will be required to complete any notification form:
- Donor name, address, contact info
- Broker name, address, contact info
- Stock or fund name, number of shares, approx. value and transfer date
- Gift Designation at Bishop Chatard (Annual Fund, Capital Campaign, pledge, etc.)

Notify Bishop Chatard High School also

Please notify Margaret Ruffing at Bishop Chatard High School of your gift at mruffing@bishopchatard.org, 317-251-1451 x 2242. This helps expedite the process by connecting your stock gift through the Archdiocese to Bishop Chatard.

Step 3: Confirm Your Transfer

Your financial advisor or broker must initiate transfers. Please confirm with your broker or advisor that your gift has been transferred from your account to the archdiocese’s account and that the archdiocese has been informed.

Once received, it usually takes 5-7 business days for your transfer to be liquidated, settled, and posted. At that point, the archdiocese will transfer the funds to Bishop Chatard, notify us of the transfer, and process a tax acknowledgment for your gift.
