Council Members: Hayden Redelman is top row, second from the right

The State of Indiana’s Legislative Youth Advisory Council held their first annual Legislative Day on February 12, 2019, bringing together over ten members from across the state to the Indiana Capitol grounds in Indianapolis.

Bishop Chatard High School junior Hayden Redelman is a member of the council’s 2018-19 cohort and participated in the event. Hayden is pictured above in the top row, first from the right.

Legislative Day included a morning roundtable with legislative directors from various governmental caucuses, followed by a “meet and greet” event with invited lawmakers. When the Senate convened later that afternoon, Senator Jim Merritt (R-Indianapolis) introduced Senate Resolution 29 in recognition of the Council’s continued advocacy efforts. Along with the rest of his council members, Hayden was invited to the Senate chamber floors to receive the honor from the assembly. Afterwards, Council members were invited onto the House floors, where Resolution 29 was then concurred unanimously by the state legislature’s lower chamber. Senate Resolution 29 recognized the council’s continued advocacy efforts.
