It’s official, Bishop Chatard High School has the best student section in the state of Indiana!
On November 17 during its 11 p.m. newscast, WISH-TV named the Trojans the 2023 Zone Banner Champion.
The Zone Banner is awarded annually by WISH-TV to the best student section in central Indiana during the high school football season, as decided by The Zone Banner Committee. After an entire season of watching school spirit on display, News 8 Sports Director (AC) Anthony Calhoun named BCHS as the winner of the most coveted spirit award in the state.
This is the first time that Bishop Chatard has won The Zone Banner during the award’s nine-year existence. The number of schools in the competition were whittled down by WISH-TV during the final weeks of the football season competition. Bishop Chatard was named one of two finalists, along with Hamilton Southeastern High School. During ‘The Zone’ broadcast on November 17, 40 Bishop Chatard students were present at WISH-TV’s studios when AC announced the winner.
On November 21, AC and The Zone team presented The Banner to the Bishop Chatard student body to display in their gymnasium.
