  • Fall Break 2026 Camino Info Meeting: Oct. 9: During Silas in the Theater Room. Come by for some light breakfast and a showing of Encanto! See Mrs. Arteaga for more info.
  • Fall Music Concert: Oct. 9 (Thurs): 700 pm in the Main Gym. Free admission! Come see what your fellow students have been working on so far this semester.
  • Fall Blood Drive: Oct. 10 (Fri): Earn two Area 2 service hours!

  • Best Buddies T-shirt orders due Oct. 10: Members of the 2025-26 Best Buddies Club: Online orders for your t-shirts ($15) are due by FRI, OCT. 10, 2025.. Orders will be placed over Fall Break, so no extensions.
  • Hispanic Heritage Month
    • Oct. 8 – Piñata Party (after school): Make your own piñata in SILAS West
    • Oct. 10 – Baila before the Bell (7:45 am in the gym): Close out Hispanic Heritage Month & celebrate the start of Fall break with an early morning dance party
    • Ongoing: Read portraits and descriptions of notable Hispanics connected to each subject area in the school (posted near the classroom doors)

  • Military Academy Info Session: Oct. 7: Freshman, sophomores, juniors, seniors and parents: Join Heather Harvey from Congressman Andre Carson's Office, on Tues, Oct. 7, 2025, at 7:45 am in Room 205 as she presents the process of applying to US military academies (West Point, Annapolis, Air Force etc).

Christian Service Opportunities

Area 1 Opportunities: Service to BCHS, Parish or Faith Community

  • Trojan Tots: Help with childcare at Trojan Tots! Sign up here
  • Peer Tutor Club: If you are in National Honors Society/Spanish National Honors Society/SUMMA, need service hours, or just want to help your fellow classmates, then you can join the Peer Tutor Club! Fill out the survey! Someone from Guidance will be in touch with you when someone is looking for a tutor. Sign up here
  • St. Matthew's Church Opportunities: St. Matthew's could use your help for the following events and dates. Contact Mrs. Pam Fleming (pfleming@saintmatt.org) if you are interested!
    • Children’s Liturgy of the Word during the 9:30 am Mass
    • Shepherd's FLOCK, a program designed to help adults with developmental disabilities grow in their spiritual life. The group meets monthly on a rotating basis from 6:00 to 7:30 pm
    • Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 25
    Additionally, St. Matthew’s is in need of athletic department help. They need folks to run the concession stand, take tickets, keep score at basketball games and more. Contact Eddie Keever at eddiekeever@hotmail.com.

Area 2 Opportunities: Service rooted in Catholic Social Teaching

  • Fall Break Home Mission Experience: Staying home for Fall Break? Why not join BC Campus Ministry for a home mission experience! Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of Fall Break, we will gather at BCHS to prepare lunches to distribute to folks in need. We will then travel by minibus downtown, where we will distribute them. We will also attend Mass at St. John's at noon, and afterwards we will reflect together on how serving others brings us closer to Christ over lunch. Lunch will be provided each day. We will gather at 10:00 a.m. each day at BCHS and be back by 2:00 p.m. Each day will count for four Area 2 Service Hours! Signup for one, two or all days below. Sign up here!
  • St. Augustine's Home - Oct. 7: Join Mr. Charboneau to serve at St. Augustine's Home on Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. Sign up here!

  • Free SAT, AP, and Math Tutoring via Schoolhouse.world for grades 8-12. Free tutoring for SATs, math courses, and Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Live small-group tutoring via Zoom will focus on SAT reading, writing, and math as well as AP course tutoring in calculus, statistics, chemistry, biology, physics, and computer science.
