Step One: Create your personal BCHS Class of 2021 Portal Account

CLASS of 2021

Use your BCHS Class of 2021 Portal account for your application. This one account is also used for shadowing signup, Open House RSVP, Placement Test Registration and One-on-One Meetings. You may have already created one. If not, create one now via the button.

Step Two: Take the Placement Exam

Taking this test is a required step in the admissions process. It is offered at BCHS in November and December. If you take this test at Bishop Chatard, it will be on file for the applicant. If taken elsewhere, please contact the school where you took the exam and request that the test results be sent to Bishop Chatard. Register for the test via the Class of 2021 Portal.

Step Three: Submit the Application

A complete application consists of the application form and the application documents. Applications can be submitted before the Placement Exam is taken. Required documents as well as the application can be submitted through the 2021 Portal.

Application Documents:

  1. 7th grade report card
  2. Most recent 8th grade report card
  3. 7th Grade ISTEP scores
  4. Placement Test scores. (If the test was taken at Bishop Chatard, the scores will already be on file.)
  5. Birth Certificate
  6. Recent psycho-educational testing results, if applying for academic support
  7. Guardianship papers, if applicable

You should receive an email from us that your application is complete. You can also login to the Class of 2021 Portal, to see a message there that your application is complete.

Applications are still accepted after the deadline. Late submissions will be charged a $100 late fee, added to their first tuition bill. Please contact Marilynn Fagan (contact details below).

Step Four: Apply for Financial Aid, if desired

Financial aid is granted on a need basis.

Bishop Chatard offers both Indiana Choice Scholarships (vouchers) and tax credit scholarships (SGOs). We can also provide direct financial aid and student work-study opportunities to families who do not qualify for these scholarships and additional aid to those who do qualify.

We encourage all families to review the qualifications for the Indiana Choice Scholarships and tax credit scholarships.

Financial Aid Application Details

A financial aid application is required to be considered for financial assistance.

DEADLINE: Deadline for submission of the financial aid application for incoming freshmen is December 12, 2016.

Although the official deadline has passed, BCHS will still accept financial aid applications. However, applications made after the deadline cannot be guaranteed to be included in the pool considered for Bishop Chatard financial aid for the school year.

Step Five: One-on-One Meetings

These one-on-one meetings give parents and/or students the opportunity to meet with a school administrator and/or teacher to ask questions, explore topics in detail and get a closer look at the school. They are optional. Schedule these through the Class of 2021 Portal. Appointments are 15 minutes, between 4pm to 6pm.

2016/2017 dates are: Nov. 16, Dec. 7, Dec. 13 and Jan. 25.

Step Five: Acceptance Packets are mailed

Acceptance packets, including notification of financial aid awards, will be mailed on February 6, 2017.

Step Five: Enroll At Bishop Chatard

Officially state your intention to attend Bishop Chatard High School by submitting a tuition deposit of $350 ($500 for two) due no later than February 24, 2017. Deposits can be mailed to Bishop Chatard High School, Attn: Admissions, 5885 Crittenden Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46220 or deliver them to the school.

Those registering after the above deadline will incur a $100 late fee added to your final tuition statement received in May, unless prior arrangements have been made. Payment questions? Contact Karen Feeney, Tuition Manager, at or 251-1451, Ext. 2238.

After we receive your deposit, we will email you. You will see a notice in your Portal account, and the course selection and registration appointments space will open.

Step Six: Course Selection and Registration

Incoming freshmen and their parents will have the opportunity to meet with a BCHS staff member to select coursework for the 2017/2018 school year.

CLASS of 2021

Appointments can be scheduled for March 8 or 9, between 4:00pm and 7:00pm. They are scheduled though your Class of 2021 Portal account.
Appointments are only possible in the Portal after your enrollment deposit (Step 5) has been received and recorded. We will email you when the appointment area in the portal opens for you. All families must reserve a time for their appointment.
