BCHS will always remember Kyle Guyton, a 2011 alumnus of Bishop Chatard, who started as the BCHS Theatre director in the fall of 2015. While on a 2016 spring break trip with students, he suffered a fatal asthma attack.
In the short time that Kyle directed the theatre program, his impact was significant. As a student and, later, a faculty member, his love of theatre was engaging and contagious. He implemented a ‘New Play Festival’, with plays composed, directed and presented by the students. He was instrumental in developing the concept of converting the Theatre room into an intimate ‘black box’ performance room which now bears his name: The Kyle Guyton Theatre. His enthusiasm and ideas captured the imagination and energy of many: students, parents and staff alike.
