• Students should bring their completed Picture Form to Orientation, whether ordering a photo or not. If you would like to purchase your student’s school photo, please include payment with your completed form. All students, regardless of whether photos are purchased, will have their picture taken.

This app displays the current BCHS student directory. It includes names, phones, and addresses of students and parent/guardian phones. After all families complete their mandatory annual PowerSchool registration/update, the directory will go live.

In advance of this, we need to know who does not want their information shared in the directory. Fill out this form ONLY if you do NOT want to be included in the student directory. Please submit this by August 21, 2026.

Student phones, smartwatches, and smartglasses must be powered off, stored away, and inaccessible for the entire school day, from before the morning bell at 8:35 a.m. until the conclusion of the school day.

Headphones, earbuds, AirPods, or other listening devices may be used with school-issued iPads (not phones) only when explicitly permitted by a teacher for instructional purposes during class. At all other times, listening devices must be stored away for the duration of the school day.

Parking registration for students is now open. We have 2 new gravel lots this year! Students may only park in unnumbered parking spots. Tags for registered cars will be available at orientation.

• Registration is open to students who have a driver’s license, and will be parking on campus. No parking tag will be issued without proof of driver’s license. All students parking on campus will need a tag hanging from their rearview mirror.
• Sophomores will be issued a gravel lot tag.
• Junior and senior student parking is first-come, first-served in any unnumbered paved parking spot. They can park in the gravel lot, if the paved parking is full.
• Please carpool if possible, especially during this year of construction. Thank you.

Free / Reduced Price Meals Program
Free & Reduced-Lunch applications open August 1, 2026.

• To receive free or reduced-price benefits, families must reapply each school year — even if a student qualified before or has a sibling at BCHS.
• Exception: Students who are “Directly Certified” (those that receive TANF, SNAP, Medicaid, etc.) do not have to apply Only If – they receive formal notification from Bishop Chatard High School that they are “directly certified for the 2026/27 school year.*
• Income-based applications are processed within 24 hours and benefits are applied immediately.
• It is the sole responsibility of the household, not BCHS, to ensure your child qualifies or is enrolled in free/reduced benefits.

For the past year and a half, school principals and the Office of Catholic Schools have engaged in dialogue regarding diploma changes and grading scale practices. As deliberations progressed, it became clear that a uniform grading scale would benefit a number of students, especially those in high school.

There is a strong correlation between attendance, student engagement, and success. We will continue to prioritize in-person attendance as it supports the formation of the whole student, body, mind, and soul.
Per state guidelines, all absences—excused or unexcused—count the same in attendance records.

If a student accrues 10 or more absences in an individual course during a semester, the student will lose academic credit for that course. In certain situations, students may meet certain additional requirements to earn credit.
We understand that illness or life events may affect attendance. In such cases, Bishop Chatard is committed to supporting your family through strong partnership and communication.

Immunization Records

Students may submit immunization records to BCHS in any of the following ways:

• In person: Bring immunization documents to the BCHS Nursing office
• Email: Send to nurses@bishopchatard.org

Attention Incoming Seniors: It’s important to address required senior-year vaccinations before the school year begins, especially the Meningococcal vaccines. There are two different meningococcal vaccines to be aware of:

1. MCV4 (Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine)
   • Required by Indiana State law
   • Students must complete the 2-dose meningococcal (MCV4) series prior to the start of their Senior year
   • Note: If the first dose was given on or after age 16, only 1 dose is required, per the Indiana State guidelines.
2. Meningococcal B (MenB) Vaccine
   • Not required for high school, but recommended
   • Most colleges and universities require this vaccine to be started prior to attending
   • This is also a 2 shot series.

If your senior has not received the above, please schedule them as soon as possible. Proof of immunization must be submitted to BCHS (see directions above). Local County Health Departments can assist with these vaccinations.

Timeframe for Immunizations "Indiana Code 20-34-4-5 states that each school shall require parents to provide proof of student immunization status no later than the first day of school attendance. The same code also states that schools may grant one waiver for up to 20 days to allow students time to obtain the required school vaccines. Students who fail to comply with required school immunizations at the conclusion of this waiver period and who do not have a medical or religious exemption on file or other documentation indicating the immunizations are in progress are not in compliance with state law.”

It is always important that the school staff knows the medical information about your student.

1. Fill in any sections in PowerSchool and Athletic Final Forms with information as indicated.
2. If your child has any allergies, the separate Student Allergy Form gives the nurses a quick reference and is very important. Type right into the form, save and email to nurses@bishopchatard.org
3. If your child will need to take prescription or non-prescription medicines while at school, please fill in the appropriate forms with the detailed information of these.

4. For any dietary needs, notify the cafeteria using the Dietary Accommodations form.

All of these items are very important for the school to know and care for your child. We appreciate your complete and prompt attention to these items.

Bishop Chatard has many volunteer opportunities for parents, and the Trinity Club organizes many of those. Every family is automatically a member of the BCHS Trinity Club, a wonderful way to meet other parents while participating in the mission and success of Bishop Chatard.
