The BCHS Music Department invites all prospective, undecided, or curious 7th–8th grade and transferring (9–12) instrumental musicians from North Deanery and area public schools to BAND JAM! on Sat., March 7, from 10:00 am–12:00 pm in Music Room 115.


Wind, percussion, and orchestral string players will rehearse alongside current band members, meet new friends, and experience the BCHS instrumental music program firsthand.

Participants should bring their instrument and necessary supplies (percussionists may bring mallets/sticks; some will be provided).

All registered families should have received an email with information and a link to sign up for an appointment to go over and register for freshmen year classes. These appointments for parent/guardian and student will take approximately 20 minutes.




				

			



				

					

						
					

				

				

					

Summer School: Summer School is June 1 – 19. Incoming freshmen will have the opportunity to take our Computing Foundations course during the summer.  Due to updated diploma requirements beginning with the Class of 2030, Computing Foundations will be offered for freshmen during summer school instead of Health. More information about summer school will be available at your Course Registration appointment.

Proficiency Tests will be held at BCHS on Saturday, April 25. These tests help with placement levels for these freshman classes. Tests will be given at BCHS as follows:


    

  • Spanish: 8:00 am – 9:00 am
    • 

  • Algebra: 9:15 am – 10:15 am
    • 

  • Geometry: 10:30 am – 11:30 pm
    • 

  • If interested in testing out of Latin please contact Allison Mayer at amayer@bishopchatard.org.

Test Registration

Registration deadline for the tests is April 6.

All materials will be provided for testing. Students can bring a snack and/or drink.

If a student has an education plan on file with Jim Merlie, Director of Academic Support, accommodations will be given for those individual exams.

Appointment signup opens May 7 at 10 am. We suggest you register as soon as you can for these popular spots.


Sports physicals good for the 2025-2026 school year will be offered at BCHS on Monday, May 19, 2025, between 5:40 pm – 8:00 pm. Cost is $30 per physical. Appointments are required and open only to current BCHS students and incoming BCHS freshmen. Space is very limited, so signup soon!

Citizenship Grants provide a way for your student to earn money towards tuition via summer work at BCHS. These grants are designed and prioritized to help those with financial aid need, but open to all students. Apply by May 12.

Bishop Chatard Summer Math Academy is a review of foundational mathematical elements essential to Algebra 1 taught by high school math teachers. The designed purpose of this academy is to prepare freshman students for success in high school level math.

Official school uniforms can be purchased through Schoolbelles (School code: S1664), online or through their store at 6315 N. Keystone Ave.


Tips from Parents:


    

  • Shop for uniforms early, as late summer is a very busy time at the store and items can be out of stock.

  • Sign up for the Schoolbelles newsletter, which will give you advance notice of any sales going on at the store.  Go to Schoolbelles.com

BCHS Uniform Sweatshirts are only available through the BCHS Spirit Shop


The approved uniform sweatshirts, 1/4 zip or crewneck, can only be purchased through the BCHS Spirit Shop, located by the concession stand downstairs near the cafeteria, or through the online Spirit Shop.

An information meeting for parents/guardians about Freshmen football at BCHS will be held on March 10, at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria. If your son is interested in playing football this fall, we ask that one parent or guardian for each player plan on attending. Questions? Tryouts for the 2026 Bishop Chatard cheerleading squad will be held on Friday, April 24 at 5 pm. We will host two clinics for girls to learn the tryout material on Tuesday, April 21 from 3:30 – 5 pm and Thursday, April 23 from 3:30 – 5 pm. Clinics and tryouts will be held in aux gym.
